About Puckett
Puckett Elementary is located in southwest Amarillo, and was built in 1975. The campus currently serves 326 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. We serve a small, yet diverse student population. Puckett maintains the highest standard of excellence for both teachers and students. Believing that all children can learn, the staff, in collaboration with parents and the community, will strive to meet the individual needs of students in a nurturing and caring environment. As a result, the children will become lifelong learners.

Puckett is a Exemplary Campus based on the state Academic Excellence Indicator System.
Puckett has also been recognized as an Honor Roll School by the Texas Business and Education Coalition.  Puckett's curriculum provides a balanced literacy approach. Reading and writing components are integrated. Teachers utilize New Jersey Writing strategies, Writers Workshop, and Guided Reading, and the Daily Five. Technology integration is practiced through the use of the internet, software, the wireless, lab, and the Dell computer lab. Students in grades two through four participate in integrated science activities using the FOSS program. A variety of hand-on math strategies are used along with the mathematics standards.

Puckett students have the opportunity to participate in several after school activities. These include Honor Choir, Reading Club, Art Club, UIL activities.

Parent and community involvement at Puckett is very high and an important part of the Puckett environment. The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and Volunteers in Public Schools (VIPS) are a vital part of our school and help Puckett achieve success.
