 Dear Puckett Parents,

I want to inform you about a lockout at Puckett Elementary School this morning.

At approx. 11:30 a.m., Amarillo Police contacted the school and advised me to go into our lockout procedures as a precautionary measure. At that time, police were concerned because they could not locate someone involved in a domestic dispute who may have presented a threat to the school.

During the lockout, students and staff remained where they were in the school building, and all doors were locked. This delayed some students from being able to go to the cafeteria for lunch at the usual time.  During this time and at dismissal, police officers were located at our school building.

Approximately 40 minutes later, police advised our school that there was no longer a possible threat, so the lockout was lifted. At that point, we continued with our regular schedule, ushering students to and from lunch.

We want you to know that the safety of our students is our primary concern here at Puckett.

Thank you for your support of our school.

 Sincerely,

Jeanine Powell

Puckett Principal
